Description

The project aims to adjust healthcare to the needs of the fast growing number of chronically ill and dependent patients through developing the infrastructure and equipment necessary to care for patients with psychic disorders. The main goal is to improve healthcare through new forms of active therapy, new equipment and long-term cooperation by means of a Cross-border Athletic Meeting to exchange ideas and experiences. The target groups are patients with psychic and psychogeriatric disorders and their families along with medical personnel partaking in professional trainings. The project will result in trainings and specialization for 50 medical personnel, 98 pieces of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, reconstruction of a healthcare institute, 1150 advisory meeting under the Patients' Point of Support, and 2 international athletic meetings. During sport events and other meetings the staff will share their experience with healthcare units from Lithuania and Russia.

Summary of project results

Within the above mentioned project an innovative, modern and monitored Nursing Care and Psychiatric Center was built for 65 beds with a sports and recreation complex - the only one in the country, - complete medical, teletechnical and IT equipment was purchased for the facility, - Two passenger cars were purchased for statutory purposes of the facility, - purchased multimedia and computer equipment, - The first Transnational / International Spartakiad was organized with the participation of patients of their families and medical staff, with the participation of Russians, Lithuanians and Belarussians. The second and third edition of the project was also attended by over 700 participants. - three conferences were organized with nearly 360 participants, - A point of support and information for patients and their families was provided: psychological, legal, social, care and nursing, therapeutic and family education - nearly 1260 people benefited from counseling and nearly 1900 counseling, - 5 people have specialized in geriatric nursing, - 5 people completed qualification in nursing care for long-term care. Project implementation was supervised by a nine-person project team. The project has been successfully implemented, as evidenced by higher performance indicators. Participation of the project of people from border areas has positively strengthened the process of integration of the inhabitants of this area.
