Description
The Leszno district entered in partnership with nine municipalities as well as economic and social partners in order to tackle challenges such as rising unemployment, social problems, poor communication infrastructure and lack of long term strategic revitalization projects. The main objective of the project is to improve the economic situation in the Leszczyńskiej agglomeration. To this end a number of strategic documents will be prepared such as a strategy for socio-economic development, a study for sustainable transport, and a development plan for investment zones attracting investors. The project envisages public consultations with citizens.
Summary of project results
Based on developed strategic documents a few important investments have been chosen which were key elements for the development of the area and for which the technical documentation has been prepared. A set of documents was worked out which contained of 16 separate projects. These documents concern the investment carried out in the communities of the Partners and the Leader and have significance for the whole development of the functional area. They include construction and reconstruction of county roads, pedestrian-bicycle routes in order to improve the consistency of communication, as well as the revitalization of the Market Square in Leszno with modernization of the Town Hall building which will improve the attractiveness of this place. The implementation of the investment by respective Partners will contribute to an improvement in the whole region. As a result of the prepared documentation the Leader has implemented reconstruction of streets in the Town of Leszno. At present the reconstruction of national road no. 12 and the construction of the new road connecting the road S5 with a viaduct are in progress. The partners are carrying out the construction of pedestrian-bicycle routes for which they have received funding from the European Union. The long-term objective of improving the economic situation in the Leszno Agglomeration by ensuring the capacity of the Partnership for realization of integrated projects connected with the economic revival of the area, which is indexed by the unemployment rate in the Leszno district, was 4.2% (at the end of the project implementation 9% was unertaken) is the result of the improvement of the socio-economic situation in the functional area. The number of joint ventures was 4 and is the result of the three partner agreements and the Territorial Mandate for the Leszno Strategic Intervention Area. Expected results such as social participation in the project implementation, which is indicated by the number of people taking part in the implementation of the Project, reached 3443 people (target was at the level of 1000 people) and is the result of effective information and promotion activities and conducted social research during the development strategic documents.
