Description

Polish Mother's Memorial Hospital - Research Institute in Lodz was opened in 1988. The technologies used in the construction process are at this point outdated, non-ecological and uneconomical. It has results in: high -costs of electric and heat energy as well as low thermal comfort for patients and team of specialists and experts. The main objective of the Project is to decrease emission of greenhouse gas and air pollutions, but also increase usage of renewable energy sources in balance sheet of energy (energy balance sheet). Thermomodernisation will contribute to the reduction of - electric energy and heat requirement. Project will decrease emission of greenhouse gas and air pollutions (~2547,76 Mg Co2/year) as well as increase usage of renewable energy sources in balance sheet of energy (production volume ~ 383,28 MWh/year). Thermomodernisation will significantly improve comfort of patients and team of specialists and experts of the hospital. Implementation of the Project will increase energy efficiency through: exchange of windows and doors, warm up of the flat roof, exchange of internal heating network with heaters and exchange of the internal lighting system. Within this investment a photovoltaics cells will also be installed. All these aims are directed reduce heating and electric costs in the Department of Pediatrics. Thermodernisation of this department will relevantly improve comfort of patients and team of specialists and experts of the hospital. Costs will be reduced, which will extend medical services for inhabitants. Patients and team of specialists and experts of Polish Mother's Memorial Hospital - Research Institute are expected to benefit the most from the Project. Nevertheless the whole community of the municipality of Lodz and the surrounding area/ the Lodzkie Region will benefit, because the implementation of the project will improve the air quality in the Lodz region and health status of its inhabitants.

The main objective of the project was to decrease emission of greenhouse gas and air pollutions, but also increase usage of renewable energy sources in energy balance sheet. Thermomodernisational works covered hospital building, within the project over 14,8 thousands of m2 of partition were insulated, over 2200 windows and doors were replaced. Modernised were interior installation and lighting. Project was ended after end of eligibility period from Beneficiaries own funds. Investment allowed to reduce CO2 emission (4584Mg/year). Project is worth mentioned due to it complexity (in hospital constantly were treated patients, including small children) and high ecological effect. Thermomodernisation significantly improved comfort of patients and team of specialists and experts of the hospital.
