Description

The project is needed in order to reduce of emission of air pollutants from the fuel incineration plant. The aim of the project is to install equipment that will contribute to a cleaner, power saving production process and the overall reduction of fuel consumption. More specifically, the project will seek to decrease the fuel consumption for power generation through the utilization of waste heat, reduce the amount air pollutants released into the atmosphere, increase the safety of the energy supply, and decrease the of spending of primary energy. The project will entail a transition from coal to natural gas as energy source, and anticipates the construction of a new boiler room with gas–heated boilers (2 units.). The stated goals of the project will be achieved through the transition to energy made from natural gas, which is much cleaner and more efficient than energy made of carbon. The project will benefit the environment and the local population.

Summary of project results

Proszkownia Mleka LLC is a leading producer of milk powder, butter and cheese. This type of production requires hot water and steam. In the plant, a steam pressure of 20 bar was produced in coal-fired steam boilers. Such high pressures are needed to compact the milk on the evaporators (up to about 11 bar) and to operate the steam heaters producing hot air (about 210°C) on the drying towers. The first stage was the elimination of steam heaters at drying towers powered by steam produced and delivered from coal boilers. In their place was installed gas-oil heaters, directly at the drying towers. The heater power was exchanged from the pyrolysis oil for natural gas.The second stage was the construction of a new boiler house and the installation of two boilers with a total capacity of 5.8 MW. The boilers are supplie with natural gas with the distribution of steam to low pressures for production and high pressures (up to 12 bar) for evaporators. Due to the project execution emission of dust and gas pollutions including carbon dioxide emission into the atmosphere decreased four times. Also, a higher efficiency of using the primary energy contained in carbon per one unit of generated heat is reached. The project also benefit for the citizens of Świnoujście and its surroundings, because the emission of pollution into the atmosphere is reduced, which will improve the state of atmospheric air. Measurable targets: - increase of the dedusting system efficiency, - reduction of pollution from K-1 boiler including reduction of CO2, - reduction of the charges incurred for economic usage of the environment concerning K-1.
