Description

The aim of the project is to increase the society’s ecological awareness on the biodiversity and to promote rational ways of using biodiversity resources in the Natura 2000 areas. The expected effects of the project are ecological education of the society on sustainable development in the areas of Natura 2000; strengthening a positive attitude to Natura 2000 and the use of Natura 2000 refuges’ potential for local development. During the implementation information and promotion materials issued in the context of the project will be given to each commune taking part in the project for their use in tourism, education and promotion. All the materials prepared will also be available on the project’s web page. Moreover, it is expected that new projects will be realized by the communes thanks to the support of experts. The target group of the project are local societies and local authorities of the 10 selected communes, as well as tourists and decision makers.

Summary of project results

The overall goal of the project has been achieved. All project indicators have been achieved. The essential effect of the project will be the growth of acceptance for the Natura 2000 network and, in general, the protection of nature in Poland. The project effects: Creating and consolidation of a positive image of the Natura 2000 zone in a society, both on a local level, and on the Polish nationwide level. Creating awareness for the benefits connected with the functioning of the Natura 2000 network. The promotion of some positive examples of a harmonious symbiosis of the local community with the Natura 2000 network, positive examples of the usage of the Natura 2000 values in the country and abroad. From the one hand the consolidation of the regions whose inhabitants feel to be affected by the creation of the Natura 2000 network, from the other hand , “increasing the value” and the promotion of those regions whose members supported the creating of the Natura 2000 network or who weren’t the opponents of this idea at least. The promotion of the Natura 2000 project as a European chain of the protected areas and the rules of its protection (what is under protection and in what way it is done). Taking advantage of the potential of both the particular areas of Natura 2000 and the whole zone for a local sustainable development. The initializing of the new activities connected with the usage of the natural values of the nature. Taking advantage of the experience of a beneficiary in the Natura 2000 implementing process on a local level, acquiring new skills, contacts and experience, the consolidation of the organization. During the project was made two conferences, 11 study visits. There were also 10 movies produced.
