Description

In order to accommodate new asphalt type of production within the framework of the project, the bituminous concrete plant will be equipped with a crushing equipment, material holdings dosage equipment, pulp and fibre, polymer modified bitumen production equipment and asphalt recycling facilities. The production process will use innovative technologies. As a result of the implementation the company will significantly improve its competitiveness with other competitors in the following parameters; (1) product prime cost, (2) substantial reduction in energy consumption, (3) transport increasing the distance, (4) opportunity to compete in the Lithuanian and Estonian markets and (5) greening the existence of the product.

Summary of project results

The project promoter is the strongest company in the building and reconstruction sector in Latvia and performs building and reconstruction of infrastructure objects of any volume and complexity. Through the project the company introduced innovative technology which ensures modification of bitumen composition during the production process and use of existing production waste (milled asphalt) as one of the basic material to create a new type of asphalt concrete. The projected implementation ensures less natural gas and electricity consumption and a subsequent decrease in environmentally harmful emissions. The new technology ensures a reduction in CO2 emissions up to 2366017 kg per year if only 10% of the new concrete type is added to existing technology measures. . Taking into account that the company is one of the largest in the sector sector as it reconstructs the main State roads the CO2 emission savings will be 529386 kg per year. The project implementation facilitates goals set out in the National development plan as well as Transport development guidelines for the period 2014 – 2020.
