Description

The project is aimed at raising general public awareness about the civic participation and promoting intercultural dialogue by educating and involving society in general, promoting of official language learning and naturalisation process, creating of united understanding of history by using interactive activities for various groups of society. The main project activities include naturalisation courses, drafting and implementation of a training programme, information events for education and promotion of cohesive society. In the result of the project aspects of history and culture of Jelgava and Latvia will be identified and developed involving the direct and indirect project target group, a pre-examination naturalisation programme for e-environment will be drafted, knowledge of the Latvian language will be improved and civic participation and intercultural dialogue will be promoted. Target group — inhabitants of Jelgava City, especially young people, minorities, non-citizens.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project is completely reached. The target group involved in the project – the residents of Jelgava, especially, minorities, non – citizens. The place of the project – Jelgava, Latvia. All the planned project activities were implemented in Jelgava from 01.09.2013. till 30.06.2014. At the time the civic participation and intercultural dialogue were promoted to educate the youth and different generations of people. During the implementation of the activities of the naturalization program the integration into social and working life is improved, it definitely improves the level of human well-being, resulting in obtaining LR citizenship – so promoting civic participation. The activities that promote common understanding of history, involving the youngsters and teachers from educational institutions, have contributed to social cohesion, common social memory, as well as intercultural dialogue. All the secondary aims of the project are completed: The naturalization study courses, the slogan contest that unites community, the interactive analytical game about controversial events of history have promoted the community cohesion and on the shared values-based civil society formation in Jelgava and Latvia. Making the knowledge verification e-test (based on the Law on the Republic of Latvia Citizenship), we have promoted the interest in naturalization, as well as public development trends. In all the social activities the national minorities, as well as Latvians, were involved to promote the intercultural dialogue, social cohesion and also the historical and cultural aspects of Jelgava and Latvia were cultivated deliberately. The knowledge of the visual material in graphic design and the control management "ABC of the Effective Head” was obtained in the study courses, in cooperation with the state and local government, as well as NGOs, the project successfully helped to raise the capacity of JNKBA.
