Description

The project is aimed at ensuring opportunities for leisure activities to the target group of the project — children and young people that are subject to the risk of social exclusion in Kurzeme Region, including the disabled, orphans, children left without parental care, children from large families, children and young people from needy and low-income families, thus enhancing their integration in the society and ensuring their human rights. The main activities include sports classes and camp, within which the children and young people subject to the risk of social exclusion will gain knowledge on healthy lifestyle, personal hygiene, principles of team work, safety regulations, ethical norms, and will develop skills in basic principles and techniques of fighting art, will learn self-defence techniques, will develop their overall physical condition by correcting their posture and taking exercises for improving their endurance, strength, speed, flexibility, nimbleness, and coordination.

Summary of project results

The project goal is fully achieved, it provided spending leisure time for target group teenagers, thus contributing to their integration into society and to human rights. Young people in sport activities were socialized to each other and to young people who are not from the target group. Teenagers of target group took part in local and international sports contests. 30 children and teenagers took a part from the target group in a day camp. 3 volunteers carried out the activities in the day camp. Sports training - kickboxing and other fighter sport style 90 trainings, 30 people were involved from the target group. 40 Physical trainings, where 20 people with invalidity were involved from the target group. 411 units of sports equipment were obtained. 2 shower rooms were renovated. In sports contests the target group children and teenagers got 10 different awards. The project and target group activities were showed on local TV, 4 articles on internet magazine, article on newspaper and 1 article on partner website. The project has developed the skills and abilities of the target group which will allow the young people to enter into the labor market in future, to establish families and to become full value and active members of the society. The renovated premises of the project will be maintained and used for Project targets for at least 5 years. Result maintenance of the Project last at least 2 years. For children and teenagers who had got the highest achievements during the project and at the contests, we plan to attract financing to continue the trainings. For disabled children and teenagers we will continue trainings in Olimpic Parateakvando discipline. Together with partners of the project attraction of the financing is started for pursuing the activities after the end the project.
