Description

The project’s aim is to promote social integration of children and young people subjected to social exclusion risks, reducing social inequality, ensuring gender equality awareness and overall social inclusion. The target group is children and young people exposed to social exclusion and poverty risks, their families, NGOs representing their rights and interests. The project activities are focused on obtaining informal education and acquiring new knowledge and skills, emphasizing the role of education in young people’s future, and promoting mutual interaction both among peers and between generations. Experience exchange events will take place: staging of Mozart`s comic opera „Bastien and Bastienne”, a creative projects contest „I and my native land”, a series of classes for children „Open the world to chances and skills”, seminars about children`s and young people`s rights and opportunities in various areas of life, discussions about gender equality topics; a mini-festival „Popular together with a friend!”, campaign „Breathe GREEN!”.

Summary of project results

The project’s aim is to promote social integration of children and young people subjected to social exclusion risks, reducing social inequality, ensuring gender equality awareness and overall social inclusion.The target group is 145 children and 150 young people exposed to social exclusion and poverty risks, 20 families with children, 130 persons with disabilities, 9 NGOs representing their rights and interests. The project activities are focused on obtaining informal education and acquiring new knowledge and skills, emphasizing the role of education in young people’s future, and promoting mutual interaction both among peers and between generations.Project results: staging of Mozart`s comic opera „Bastien and Bastienne”, a creative projects contest „I and my native land”, a series of classes for children „Open the world to chances and skills”, seminars about children`s and young people`s rights and opportunities in various areas of life, discussions about gender equality topics; a mini-festival „Popular together with a friend!”, campaign „Breathe GREEN!”, organized experience exchange trip to Oslo. Performed a special lift - lift installation RLS house of ensuring that people with disabilities access to the house of the premises where the various cultural, educational, etc. measures within the project and beyond. The Latvian Society in Norway provided opportunity to acquire additional knowledge and skills about the corresponding work outside Latvia to improve the RLS and its partners work with the social castaway risk and poverty subjected people, participation in decision making processes, could successfully work and represent the interests of the NGOs working in social, educational, culture spheres and in the national planning politics. Due to the experience acquired in the discussion and seminars in Norway, that took place in all Latvian regions, there was an opportunity to show good praxis examples.

Summary of bilateral results

The involvement of base of the Norwegian partners "Latvian Society in Norway" was an experience exchange visit, a meeting and a discussion about the forming of the public opinion and generation of new ideas in the fields of social work, cultural politics and education that improve the life of the society. As a result the comprehension of the possibilities of collaboration of NGOs has deepened and the movement of civil society - activated. The activity is based on the solving of social issues, development of culture and education, support of tallented youth, collaborating between different institutions of Europe and profiting from the modern possibilities for reaching one's goals, and collaborative politics. After the experience exchange visit a roundtable discussion was organized in Latvia in order to transmit the gained knowledge, the new ideas and the examples for Latvian organizations and interested persons. The foreign experience gained in the project has been applied in order to raise the level of competency of the members of NGOs in the co-participation of the non-governmental sector and the defense of interests of the represented social groups during decision-making about social, educational and cultural political matters. By improving these competencies, the collaboration between organizations of all levels, social partners and non-governmental organizations in the creation and implementation of a better, society oriented policy is going to be promoted. After the experience exchange visit, the participants of the seminars were introduced with social work experience in Norway by demonstration of the created presentation and stories of best practice. The collaboration with all partners can be evaluated as very positive and seen as an excellent investment in long-term cooperation also after the end of the project.
