Description

The project's aim is to promote integration of socially excluded women of minorities into the Latvian society, reducing obstacles of their economic and cultural dependence and contributing to development of civil society. The project envisages educational activities that will provide the target group with the necessary economic and civic skills. Interdisciplinary support will be provided to the young women in their daily lives to strengthen their integration. An innovative programme will be developed for the mentors in the capacity of volunteer consultants all over Latvia. Some target-oriented events will also be organized, such as a camp, a conference and a media campaign, to involve a wider community and the majority nation in the processes of societal integration. The target group of the project is women of minorities and non-citizen women who are economically or culturally dependent (including due to family traditions) – young Roma, Russian and Belorussian women.

Summary of project results

Project READY has been unique initiative in field of integration of youth of Latvia – the Project contributed in several sectors – citizenship, economical integration, leadership development especially of ethnical minorities. The author based concepts and innovative services has been designed during Project. There were 4 trainings – 2 of topic „Employment” and 2 for topic „Entrepreneurship”. This was crucial activity for young women who are not empluyed yet to strenghten their wilingness being active part of society. Special communication skills development program was designed to involve in social proceses also minorities with language barrier in Riga and Daugavpils. This is important activity for women who have been socially isolated for some time (young mothers, romes, etc.). During whole Project multidisciplinary team of organisation provided education and employment consultations on daily basis. The unique concept of mentors network was also strenhgthened by Norwegian NGO TroNett – regional organisation that has long term experience in field of women entrepreneurship. The skills and know-how was disseminated through masterclass and common visits and has great influence to overall LBWA and LLBWA competencies. Each months there were also held debates with society leaders (politicians, society leaders etc.). The most interest from target group was about youth women camp which gathered 40 highly motivated participants. Some of them also was participating in practice and mentorship program which gave also practical arrangements for future. Final public events like conference and media campaign was also important to provide public discussion regarding integration and tendencies in this field. The Project results were also shown in regional TV and internet sources.
