Description

The aim of the project is to promote sustainable development of the Family and Child Development Centre „Brīnumiņš” by improving the range of its services, raising awareness of the population about civil society and supporting development of strong and stable families. Within the projects it is intended to strengthen capacity of the Centre by attracting the necessary specialists to manage activities of the Centre and take ensure sustainable development of the Centre. The range of services of the Centre will be improved, previous experience analysed, and a plan for future activity developed. FCDC will continue its operation by offering the Talsi district families classes, trainings and seminars. Parents will be regularly informed about the latest news on the state and local government support schemes for the families, changes in various regulations, laws and decisions. Target group of the project is inhabitants of Talsi district.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project is to promote development of the Family and Children Development Centre’s ”Brīnumiņš” activity by strengthening capacity of the Centre’s human resources, improving and supplementing the range of Centre’s services and creating awareness of the citizens about formation of civil society. Target group of the project is 20 NGO, 49 NGO members (12 employees, 37 volunteers), 60 families with children, 318 inhabitants of Talsi district. Place of implementation. Kurzemes region, Talsi The main results of the project: The running of the Centre attracted 4 new employees, 37 volunteers, with 9 of them concluded voluntary agreements. Devised a strategy of "Family and Child Development Centre" Brīnumiņš "Development Strategy 2014- 2015".Organized 10 seminars / training (topical themes and problem-solving, communication between the formation of local authorities, institutions and between citizens topical issue and problem analysis) - 318 participants Talsi residents.Organized a 2 family days activities - Talsi 150 people (60 families with children). Promoting cooperation with other NGOs organized 8 exchange visits, acquainted 20 organizations experience. Centres registered in the Ministry of Welfare as a "day-care centre." Work of the Centre implemented 5 new services. The activities implemented during the Project directly influenced development of social sustainability as well as improved the understanding of the Talsi Region families about democracy and civil participation. The activity of the Centre is aimed at priorities and needs of different groups of local inhabitants. The Centre’s specialists improve the quality of life both for children with special needs and their parents ensuring psychological support and specialist consultations. The Centre’s team carries out work in order to reduce negative aspects that influence full-fledged development of all children and ensure their communication experience with other people, develop their communication skills and ensure their integration in society. The Centre’s experience and the provided services facilitate healthcare, education and development of different skills of the families within the Talsi Region. Project implementation has ensured sustainability of the services provided by the Centre as well as sustainability of the Centre’s activities in general. By implementing project a solid foundation for centre’s sustainable operation has been created.
