Description

The project promotes formation of a united society through integration of minorities. Aim: to promote intercultural dialogue by Latvian language training and participating in multicultural events for children and their parents. Main activities: interactive Latvian language training for children and adults; Latvian Conversational language club; intercultural interests club; multicultural activities for pre-school children; activities for children and families; CD booklet publishing; information activities. Results: a) intercultural dialogue and multicultural integration will be to promoted for children since their early age; b) non-discrimination and tolerance between different minorities and Latvians will be promoted; c) information, gained in the events and courses of the Project, will promote the citizenship of the Republic of Latvia for the non–citizens. Target group: Preschool children and their parents, ethnic minorities and non-citizens

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to promote international dialogue, organizing Latvian language classes, events for children and their parents, to increase mutual understanding. The result of the offered project activities - promoted the intercultural dialogue and integration of national minorities, including the strengthening of national identity and human rights, awareness and educational activities to help to learn the Latvian language, promote democratic participation, eliminate discrimination, promote tolerance and foster the obtaining of citizenship. The project activities were innovative or based on the target group approval continued associations work. During the project was developed the integration center where were integrated the children of the national minorities. Children were spending time in the center, playing, participating in the project events and activities - that's how they got to know each other and that's how was promoted the culture, language and religion integration. Activities for children and families were uniting different nationalities from early ages, meanwhile for the language to communicate and integrate in the Latvian environment. Sustainability of the project is characterized by the fact that at least 2 years after completion of the project: - cooperation with the target group will be continued, offering activities and training for minorities and non-citizens facilitating their integration. Ongoing information will be placed in the associations website www.aapieci.lv, thus preserving intercultural dialogue and promoting a cohesive society development in Latvia; -the video about project will be accessible on www.aapieci.lv also after the project, to promote and to show the importance of the ethnic integration and intercultural dialogue in Latvia; - integration centre Pietura bērniem plans to keep the Latvian language training, activities for pre-school children and their parents. - the positive project outcomes will continue after grant of the Foundation. To continue the activities after the project: - funding from other foundations is expected to be obtained; - other paid services will be offered (interactive training programms, consulting, project writing), which will allow the integration activities offer for minimal fee or for free; - there are plans to develop associations cooperation with the local municipality and business organizations.
