Description

The project's main focus is to ensure civic participation in policy making processes in the Zemgale Vidusdaugava region. In particular it will provide for the Association's active and sustainable participation in regional policy and decision-making processes, promoting NGO involvement in safeguarding democracy and good governance principles in Vidusdaugavas region and promoting the potential of a civil society. The project activities will cover Vidusdaugavas region, namely Jekabpils city and county, Krustpils county, Sala county and Plavinu county. The main project measures involve creation of NGO coalitions, promotion of volunteering, creation of volunteer data base and systematization of a documentation, involvement into international volunteer exchange, implementation of innovative participation measures to promote democracy, as well as increasing comprehension about civilly active community. The main project target group is NGOs.

Summary of project results

The Project was necessary to strengthen the role and significance of the association/NGO "Jekabpils NGO Resource Center" in developing a civic society in Vidusdaugava region (Jekabpils city and county, Krustpils county, Sala county and Plavinas county). Results of the project will maintained, ensuring the association of future activities and the development of the project results achieved, for example, coalition activities of Vidusdaugava NGOs will be extended both in number as well as geographically etc. The project objective was achieved in a full scope. The project results ensure sustainability and strengthen capacity of the association/NGO "Jekabpils NGO Resource Center" in order to be able to participate in regional policy-making and decision-making in Vidusdaugava region. The Project results will ensure NGOs influence in following the values of democracy and good governance principles, as well to innovatively promote the potential of a civil society. The main goals reached- the coalition of NGOs from Vidusdaugava region was set up; volunteering has been promoted and the volunteers’ data base has been developed; the association has been engaged in an international volunteer exchange; innovative participation measures have been implemented to promote democracy, The main benefit of the target group - civil society has been strengthened, citizen participation and social dialogue has been developed. The project did not develop partnership with the representatives of donor countries.
