Description

The aim of the project is to diversify contemporary art forms in the regions of Utena and Westfjords, to attract professional artists of interdisciplinary art and to create new works of various creative techniques. The format of curated residencies is chosen as an appropriate mean for the combination of partnerships and the creation of artistic products of various creative techniques. The structure of the project of curated residencies consists of four stages: three stages will take place in Utena Arts center (Lithuania) and one stage in Iceland. Artists will participate from Lithuania and Iceland in every stage. The first stage questions and interprets Lithuanian ethno culture standards. The second stage questions and interprets public spaces by making accents that arts can overstep the borders of galleries, museums, cultural centers. The third stage questions and interprets Jewish cultural heritage. The starting point of creation will be classical Jewish literature and particularly the books of wisdom. The fourth stage questions ethno culture, public spaces and the wisdom books in an Icelandic context. Simbahollin ehf (Iceland) is the donor project partner in this project.

During the project 24 works in various creative techniques of interdisciplinary art were created.

Summary of bilateral results

The Icelandic partner - Joint Stock Company Simbahöllin participated in all stages: 2 artists in I, II and III stages and 3 artists in IV stage. Project partner was responsible for educational workshops in his country, Westfjord Target Group and exhibition of the works of IV stage. Partners shared good practice, created works of high artistic quality, which gave more confidence and created positive precedent for further development.
