Description
In Europe, the majority of energy consumption comes from heating residential- and public buildings which is brought about in a high percentage by the burning of fossil fuels. Therefore the emission of gases strengthening the greenhouse effect, mostly the emission of carbon dioxide remains significant. Hence the insulation of houses and buildings is a key point in energy saving. Various types of building and insulation materials are recognized and applied by the building industry. Due to the developments in the past decades these became better and producible in a more environmentally-friendly way although the production of building and insulation materials still causes great environmental strain. The goal of the project is to improve a prototype of a production line that is able to reproduce building material which is made by the use of common reed in an automatized manner within the expected allowance values. The common reed is a renewable natural raw material. The outputs of the project are diverse products: from the thicker reed stalks building blocks, from the upper part the self-supporting insulation materials are produced.
