Description

During recent academic years, more than 4400 Hungarian students travelled abroad, of which more than 3600 students were given support from the Erasmus+ Programme. In return, more than 4000 students arrived at Corvinus University of Budapest from abroad. Corvinus has an Erasmus+-agreement with about 300 partners, of which about 80 partners come from other EU countries. Our university has continuous and permanent partnerships for several years with Norwegian Universities. Thanks to EEA grant in order to strengthen diversity the university will be able to increase the incoming mobility number and as a result of this more Hungarian students can participate in scholarship programmes in the Norwegian area. Corvinus University of Budapest has the mission: to appropriately handle the diversity of cultures, religions and languages, to increase international cooperation, transnational partnerships and enhance internalisation processes. We would like to achieve with our partners institutional cooperation at all levels of the education sector to increase international mobility, cooperation and development of the education sector, flexibility and closer linkage between institutions for research and education, financial support for education projects. The expected results of CUB is higher quality in education via internationalisation, integrated policies at implementation level, pooling of resources, increased international learning mobility and cooperation, facilitate long lasting institutional bilateral cooperation.

Summary of project results

The Corvinus University of Budapest – one of the leading universities in business, economics and social sciences both in Central-Eastern Europe and in Hungary – due to its internationalization strategy, its participation in international mobility programs is of crucial importance. Within the EEA Grants Program, the Corvinus University of Budapest would like to foster cooperation with regards to higher education between the donor and beneficiary countries. The long-term goals include promoting economic, social and cultural cooperation between the countries. Furthermore, promoting international mobility and building up partnerships with the higher-education institutions with the donor countries. Last, but not least, promoting cooperation in the professional field and in research. All in all, not only the countries, but specific institutions, such as the Corvinus University of Budapest could widen its cooperation with Iceland and Liechtenstein and deepen its collaboration with Norway. The short-term goals are manifested in the personal development of participating students and staff. In this regard, the EEA Grants Program is a good framework, since 2 outgoing and 2 incoming part-time study mobility was achieved with Norway. 17 outgoing winter university mobility with Liechtenstein and another 6 outgoing travels to Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein show the success of cooperation. We also expect, that the Corvinus University of Budapest will continue to be part of more call for applications, as an integral and active part of the EEA Grants Program. This ensures the continuing future success of the countries and institutions in higher education.

Summary of bilateral results

Due to the fact that the Corvinus University of Budapest would like to establish institutional cooperation with higher education institutions also in Iceland and Liechtenstein, it received more financial support for teaching and institutional visits in the second round of calls, where the cooperation would be in the business, economics and social sciences areas. Regarding this, we have reached out to the University of Iceland, the Reykjavik University and the University of Liechtenstein, and we have also discussed signing an Erasmus+ agreement with these institutions and promoting further possible mobility in the EEA Grants Program. The outgoing institutional visits were initiated by the Corvinus University of Budapest in all cases. The institutions of the donor countries were very glad to cooperate with the Corvinus University of Budapest. This was also achieved by the regional leading role of Corvinus and its international expertise. During the visits, the EEA Grants provided the basis for future participation in summer and winter universities: 17 students from the Corvinus University of Budapest visited the winter university of the University of Liechtenstein in February 2017. In the case of Norway (where Corvinus University has longer ongoing cooperation with the University of Oslo, the BI Norwegian Business School, the Norwegian School of Economics NHH, Bergen and the University of Stavanger), the EEA Grants provided a successful visit to the Norwegian School of Economics NHH, Bergen within the elite CEMS (Community of European Management Schools) Program. Besides the institutional visits and the winter university, students also had the possibility to undergo incoming and outgoing part-time study mobility in Norway. With regards to the results mentioned above, both the donor countries institutions and the Corvinus University of Budapest believe that continued successful cooperation must go on with the help of the indispensable EEA Grants Program.
