Summary of project results

In Heves county the rate of the Roma citizens is high, and most of them are concentrated in the Northern and Southern parts of the county which are one of the most underprivileged areas. The main objective of the project was to provide methodological help for Roma youth in order to form their peer groups and to develop their advocacy skills in 10 settlements in Heves and Borsod counties. The project was launched in an opening event where 11 cooperation agreements were signed (9 in Heves and 2 in Borsod) and 36 animator youth were involved. The project promoter arranged meetings with each collaborating organization so the tasks and liabilities were cleared, and the associations appointed mentors. A 3-day-long community development training helped the youth to get know each other and also the details of the project, then they participated in several workshops which prepared them for public participation, project planning communication and they also had a 2-day-long camp in which they elaborated the closing event. Regularly held meetings and preparing workshops preceded the implementations of the 10 mini projects. Youth became quite self-dependent, their skills improved, the communities were strengthened. Youth became more responsible and conscious as they had to plan the budgets of their projects, too that gave pragmatic knowledge to them. In average 90-120 local people took part in the mini projects and animators visited each of them thus the network of youth were broadened. Videos about the mini projects are available on the Youtube channel of the project promoter: https://goo.gl/G3JkXb The project was important for the youth not only because of the knowledge transfer but because of the social mobilization. They became the innovators of their settlements.
