Summary of project results

The basic assumption was that through the presentation of the traditional values of the gypsy communities, prejudices can be abolished. The project aims to introduce people to gypsy gastronomy and culture. The program also activates the inactive members of the local gypsy community. The program achieves sustainability trough the careful allocation of funds: the main fund was used to establish the restaurant, to purchase kitchen tools and other equipment and to launch a marketing campaign in order to promote the project. Other operating costs were covered by donations and other funds. During thematic dinners the guests can become familiar with gypsy culture. The members of the project also represent their organization on festivals and other notable events in order to achieve widespread recognition for the project. The media also presented the merits of the program, and pointed out many positive elements of the gypsy culture, thus decreasing the prejudices of the society.
