Description

Social marginalisation of drug-related issues is worsened by current unfavorable policy processes (e.g. lack of communication on the mertis with decision makers, drying up of budget financing). The aim of the project is to enable the MADÁSZSZ and the involved NGOs to adapt proactively to the adverse circumstances strong and proactive representation of interests. As a result of the project, the proactive adaptation and social embeddedness of the participants are improved, context of the policy of the field is changed with a move toward a more dominant governmental involvement with respect to professional angles. As a direct result, competencies of the NGOs are developing, professionalism of their operation is growing, more effective ways of representation of interests are emerge. Besides the MADÁSZSZ and the involved NGOs, the extended target group of the activities are all of the experts and NGOs of the field, as well as their clients.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to enable the Coalition (C) and the involved NGOs to adapt proactively to the adverse circumstances. On the other hand to also proactively change the representation of interests and the professional policy on local and national levels in order to strengthen the more oriented governmental involvement with respect to the professional angles. Elements of strategical development of C: improvement of competencies related to representation of interest and communication, development of structures and capacities enabling a more effective representation of interest. 20 NGOs from the drug profession were involved. The recruitment ensured the heterogenity of the NGOs based on their activities as well as their involvement in umbrella organizations. There were trainings in connection with professional/organizational operation and representation of interest/communication, the Civil Board of Coordination of Drug-Related Issues was established and with the institution of the civil ombudsman of the field, representation of interest on local level was facilitated. As a result of the project, competencies of C and the NGOs have developed, professionalism of their operation has grown, their social embeddedness has improved. Their professionalism of representing interests has improved, professional guidance has strengthened both on national and local levels.
