Description

People living with a disability also often become part of a subcultures or use mind-altering drugs, but interaction between professions in their aid has so far been unprecedented. Integration of a new specialisation in Hungarian addiction related professions, which covers the health care and rehabilitation of disabled drug users. Transferring experiences and knowledge to partner institutions of the trainings on health care and rehabilitation of impaired drug users, in the form of accredited training. Training of prevention colleagues, relatives, helpers, peer helpers; recreational programmes; christmas event and public art action; professional workshop; developing and accrediting a training module. Disabled residents and their immediate environment; professionals helping disabled people, volunteers; professionals providing drug prevention training.

Summary of project results

Physically or mentally challenged people using drugs is not a taboo, but a fact – said experts working in this field. The existence of the aforementioned problem gave the idea to the co-workers of the Drug Stop Association to realize a support program that provides an aiding forum to both people with disabilities as well as their personal environment around them. The aim of the project is to establish a new field of expertise in the profession of drug-addiction treatment / support domestically: the rehabilitation and health protection of drug addicts with disabilties and providing help to the individual and his / her family to live their lives to the fullest without feeling guilty or stressed in the everyday life. The complex program created and realized comprises of the education of the contemporary, fellow and preventive co-workers, joint leisure programs, local forums, actions and organization of conferences.
