Description

The action “Journey of the European Child Forum“ is envisaged to contribute to the improvement of knowledge and development of responsibility of large number of people from Liburnian area, with respect to children's rights and the need for knowledge. The project is expected to achieve richer knowledge of children's rights (UN Conventions)), and our objective is to achieve more efficient realization of those rights, respect for other rights and responsible behavior towards themselves (children) and others. The project will address these challenges through workshops where children will learn about their rights, they will learn that they are obliged to respect the rights of others and how to act responsible in future . The children will benefit from this project through educational and creative workshops in which they devise ways of traveling through the world of children's rights and responsibilities (making a leaflet about the forms of children's participation, booklets action, memo cards on children's rights, a map of the world on the state of children's rights).

Summary of project results

With the action "Journey of the European Child Forum" children and adults are sensitized to respect the everyday application of the provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is contributed to the realization of the idea of active citizenship which was realized through participation of volunteers in the implementation of the action, but also with the public gathering. The action improved the knowledge about the rights of children and developed the responsibility of larger number of people from Liburnian area to respect children's rights in daily life at the local level. Increased knowledge was visible among children of primary school age from City of Opatija and Municipality of Lovran and Mošćenička Draga on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This was achieved by traveling and participating in educational and creative workshops. In additional, on May 9, there was an event in order to marke Europe Day, and 2015 as the European Year for the development and appropriate goals - solidarity, humanity and the involvement of children and youth.
