Description

The Roma Youth Association from Roma settlement Sitnice, Municipality Mursko Središće will introduce a modern wireless internet system for all beneficiaries in local community. The association will also provide a local community members with a set of promotional and educational activities aimed to increase the level of skills of Roma population in Sitnice settlement for IT technologies. The civil action is needed to reduce the social and educational exclusion of the Roma, which is inherited from the older generation of Roma people in the Roma settlement sundries. The above also represents also the main aim of the operation. It is expected that the project will achieve the introduction of wireless Internet, motivation and training of members of the Roma community and the promotion of social activism in the wider community. This action will benefit young Roma people, and they are the target group of the project. Indicators of meeting the objectives will be measured by the number of citizens / volunteers involved in a civil action and the number of articles and / or media appearances that affect the general public.

Summary of project results

The results achieved by this civil action are: holding workshops for young Roma in order to safely browse the internet, putting the Internet signal to the whole Roma settlement and several streets in the majority population, distribution of leaflets and information, organizing public forums, the project Roma Cinema outdoors the volunteers were shown how to safely and legally download movies and music over the Internet services, also the implementation of these actions has been strengthened by cooperation with local / regional institutions and the police station.
