Description
A consortia of four Greek organisations will jointly establish a reception centre for asylum seekers in Athens, which will offer accommodation, food and important services such as medical care, psychosocial support and training. The centre shall be able to house 100 asylum seekers at a time. The organisations will give priority to unaccompanied minors and single parents. The consortia will also spread information about the situation for asylum-seekers in Greece to the society at large.
Summary of project results
At MELLON Reception Center through the period of 4 years of implementation 1128 UAMs and 88 single mothers with their children hosted. Through all the funding period, all the services provided at the beneficiaries, with exception for legal issues since there was a lawyer who presented only once a week at the RC for all these cases of beneficiaries. One of the challenges faced is well referred to the relationships in between the beneficiaries who come from different cultural backgrounds and countries – something which will also enhance their smooth co-existence and the relief of tensions.
