Description

In Spain the economic crisis has particularly affected women's employment, where the unemployment rate has more than doubled over the last 5 years. This situation is especially serious for women at risk of exclusion whose educational level is usually low, which hampers their access to employment. The objective of the project is to improve the employability of women at risk of social exclusion through comprehensive training and joint participation, as a channel to avoid situations of social exclusion. The project will provide tools to improve access to employment for women at risk of exclusion. There will be organized four courses of vocational training and comprehensive support for the beneficiaries to achieve the ultimate goal of access to employment. At the same time it will focus on business awareness. The main beneficiaries of the project will be women at risk of social exclusion.

Summary of project results

The economic crisis has worsened the employment situation of women, increasing the unemployment rate. The situation is especially severe with women at risk of exclusion as their educational level is lower, reducing their employment prospects. The main goal of the project was to improve the employability of women at risk of social exclusion. Towards this goal, the project aimed to provide guidance to participants, promote the development of social and work related skills through training, encourage the active job searching and provide job seeking skills. In addition, the project aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of the participation in the labour market of women and its links with social exclusion. To achieve the mentioned goals several actions have been carried out. At the beginning of the project, personal interviews have been done with 68 participants to analyse their employability, prospects and personal situation. Out of them, 53 were selected for the project. The core action has been the provision of training actions to these participants (target 75% of them, achieved 100%). The training contents have focused on key skills for their employability (social skills, active job search) and vocational training in occupations demanded by the labour market (cooking, social and healthcare services for dependant persons, or provision of domestic healthcare services). In addition to training, orientation and guidance for access to employment has been also provided to these 53 women participants. Labour placement activities have been also carried out, with direct contact and meetings been held with companies in order to manage internships and job offers. As result of these actions, 11 participants have found a job in the following three months after participating in the project (target 15% of participants, achieved 21%).
