Description

Social organizations have financial problems with budget cuts, declining subsidies and lack of funds. Organizations need solutions to reduce costs and focus on their goal: assisting people with intellectual disabilities and their families.The goal is to bring disability associations together so they can buy in bulk, to reduce procurement costs and generate savings that can be used for the association´s assistance programmes. Project outcomes: Implementation centralized purchasing processes in regions of Castilla León, Cataluña, Galicia y Aragón, based on Madrid pilot experience. Social organizations and people with intellectual disabilities and their families are the beneficiaries. The more that social organizations can save money on goods and services, the more they can use these savings for projects related to people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Partners will have the opportunity of join to a project that will provide them savings on goods and services.

Summary of project results

The project is developed because social organisations had financial problems: budget cuts, declining subsidies and lack of funds. Organisations are needed for solutions to reduce costs and focus on their goal: assisting people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Implementation of centralized purchasing processes have been implemented in Castilla León, Cataluña, Galicia y Aragón, based on Madrid pilot experience.Social organisations and people with intellectual disabilities and their families are the beneficiaries. Furthermore, if those social organisations can save money on goods and services, they willl be able to use these savings for projects related to people with intellectual disabilities and their families. A great number of organisations have had the opportunity of join to a project that will provide them savings on goods and services. This project led by FEAPS Madrid, has served to generate an alliance of 23 social organisations for people with intellectual disability, able to generate savings on their common expenses through centralized purchasing. 23 organisations have joined the project definitively, the number of beneficiaries has been 6,194 people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (44.3% women) with an average annual saving of 186,411 euros. Thanks the EEA Grants, it is not only a local project, now it is a national project that has continuity over time and it is growing in a continuous process of expansion.
