Description

The proposal seeks to promote the coeducation and the attention to the diversity in public education, specifically in two educational centres in Santa Coloma de Gramenet through training, continual support and workshops with students in issues such as gender equality, prevention of violence against women and discrimination on grounds of sex and/or sexual orientation. The project also promotes networking between schools and other educational agents in the city by coordinating an artistic activity of awareness, located in a public location of high visibility for the March 8th. The project consists of different areas of work: training sessions theoretical-practical for teachers in the field of coeducation and attention to gender diversity, workshops for children on gender and management of emotions through art, working in network through two joint activities between participating schools and the creation of an artistic installation of large format located in a public location of the area to promote awareness in the neighbourhood.

Summary of project results

The objective of this project has been the development of coeducation and attention to diversity through art in two schools in Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Catalonia). Creart as project promoter and Fill d'agulla as partner have promoted gender equality and preventing violence against women and discrimination on grounds of sex and/or sexual orientation. The project has provided teacher training, has allowed the group work in the classroom with children and has promoted awareness networking schools together, CIRD (Centre d'Informació i resources per Dones) and City Hall. All this have strengthened the coalition between the partners: Filalagulla and Creart. The impact of the project in the classroom has led to greater awareness of teachers on the influence of sex-gender system helping to create a climate of greater freedom for both, the people who do not fit into this system, and for the people more regulations. This has been possible thanks to teachers training, workshops done in the classroom and later accompanying of teachers. The project has also benefited the students in terms of group: improving its cohesion and the ability to operate in a more democratic and more respectful and free in terms of sex and gender aspects manner. Regarding city level, in the framework of the project they have developed an activity for the 8th march. They have created an urban art installation in the Town Hall giving visibility to the project and the possibility to work about the issue of gender violence.
