Description

The goal of the project is to develop modern teaching methods which teachers can use to integrate different subjects and promote healthy lifestyles in school. The target group consists of teachers and school employees, but through them all members of the community will be influenced. The most important aspect is to make healthy lifestyles a natural part of people's everyday lives. Through the project activities we want to create basic teaching materials which can be put into practice. The main outcome of the project is a web-based teaching material which will be accessible to everybody. We want to create modern learning materials which are not only useful, but also interesting to the users. We want to incorporate modern tools such as smart phones, i-pads and to provide a variety of activities that develop different aspects of healthy lifestyles: physical activities, team activities, fitness training, aerobic activities, etc. We want to concentrate on winter sports, because skiing is an important activity for all parties. Through modernized teaching methods we want to improve the awareness of healthy living, as well as to promote the necessity of healthy lifestyles.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was developing attitudes and competencies allowing the practice of lifelong physical activities and positive attitudes towards healthy lifestyles. Another goal of the project was the development of modern teaching methods which teachers can use to integrate different subjects and promote healthy lifestyles in school. The target group consisted mostly of teachers and school employees, but through them many members of the community were involved. The most important aspect was to make healthy lifestyles (healthy eating and physical activities) a natural part of people's everyday lives. Through the project activities, seminars, training sessions, and work shadowing basic teaching materials in several subjects were created which can be put into practice by both the schools and the communities. Web-based teaching materials are accessible to everybody will be after the completion of the project on schools websites, e-Koolikott, via printed posters and stickers. Since February 2016 Lillehammer Upper Secondary School offers warm lunches and people in Aravete have become more active (different facilities have been created inside and outside school building and active brakes are the natural part of school day). Summary of bilateral results

According to the final report knowledge and mutual understanding between partners has improved a lot. Participants have learned from each other and it is reflected in the teachers' work programmes. As a result of the project contemporary educational material is developed for not only by the teachers of the Aravete and Lillehammer schools to be used, but also by neighbour schools and other educational institutions of both countries. Cooperation between partner institutions has good basis to improve thecooperation in the future. We already have discussed exchanging different sport groups.
