Description

The aim of the project is to support the Silent Minutes initiative in developing training for exercising concentration and peace of mind and offering the service to adults who have contacts with young people (teachers, parents, youth workers) and enable them to use the exercises independently with either individuals or groups. The final beneficiaries of the project will be Estonian children and youth, but the project will help the organization to become a sustainable social enterprise and helps to create cooperation networks.

Summary of project results

The project promoter - NGO IDLaboratory - is a social enterprise focusing on creation of innovative and inspirational changes for Estonian education. Idea of the project was to elaborate and test training programs for teachers, to help to integrate "Silent Minutes"- children's attention and self-control exercises - into their every day work. The project was started as planned: the network of people involved (PP, trainers from the Tallinn University and the University of Tartu) have had several meetings and elaborated new service - briefing and 2-days basic training for school teachers. The briefing would give teachers first information on idea and intentions of "silent minutes". The training would provide deeper knowledge and techniques for realizing this new method in teacher's everyday work. Also a booklet with general information on the method and more detailed brochure with practical information have been published. Further development of the activities was unexpectedly rapid because of high interest of target group (school teachers) and unofficial partners of the project - the Tallinn University and the University of Tartu, who were interested in cooperation and providing Silent Minutes training as an additional cource of university. For that purpose the PP's management desided to separate "Silent Minutes" from IDLaboratory's others initiatives and to hand them over to the newly created NGO Silent Minutes, that was ment to deal with all further activities connected to Silent Minutes-initative. Such a quick progress could not be previewed beforehand. Though that was a positive growth, such an unexpected development has increased considerably scope of work of the PP's leaders. There were some difficulties with getting project interim report from PP, the communication with the project's leader Edvard Ljulko was troublesome. After the meeting with the project leader, evaluating the interim report of the project and correspodence with Edvard Ljulko we've found reasonable to close the project at that stage. As a bulk of activities planned by the project was in fact competed and paid by the NGO Silent Minutes, unspent part of prepaid grant of EUR 4571,88 has been returned upon PO's request. In spite of termination of the project we can assure that the goals and objectives planned have been achieved and the effects of the initiative will continue.
