Description

The project is a co-project of three youth umbrella organizations: Estonian National Youth Council, Federation of Estonian Student Unions and Estonian School Student Councils' Union. It is brought to life in order to strengthen their member organizations and to do so, there are two main activities. Firstly, to create a mentoring system by developing and implementing first generation of mentors. Secondly, to launch a thought-out system of volunteers by creating a guide of recruiting, involving, schooling, instructing and recognizing volunteers. As a result of this project the communication between umbrella organizations and their members will be multi-directional and closer.

Summary of project results

The work of the three umbrella organizations for youth NGO-s has been recently hindered by the different levels of development and organizational capacity of the member organizations. Therefore, the objectives of the project were to strenghten the member oranizations, to secure stability by implementing a mentor program and launching a system of volunteers by creating a guide for recruiting, involving, schooling, instructing and recognizing volunteers. The mentoring program went well when considering feedback from the members and feedback from the people who participated in the program. However, the number on people who participated wasn´t as high as planned. Eventually there were 13 pairs who started in the program. Due to the smaller number of participants it was possible to focus more in the idividual level. Therefore, the results are considered satisfying. The second part of the program focused on involving new volunteers and this activity was very sccessful. Due to involving more volunteers the workers in umbrella organisations have had more time to concentrate on representing their organizations' interests on the state level.
