The donor partner - Norwegian Safety Forum - is an organization that provides information and ensures cooperation between government agencies and NGOs, and industry and trade, to increase security in Norway. It provides information on strategies to the responsible authorities at national, regional and local government and in the private sector dealing with health.

Summary of project results

The project stemmed from the need for systematic solutions to the most serious health problems for children, which result from injuries and violence. The National Coordinating Centre activity has been based on the need to systematically affect mortality and morbidity in children due to accidents and violence. The main objectives of the project were to reduce the number of child injuries and violence in the Czech population, reduce mortality from injuries and increase public awareness about prevention. The project was aimed at the whole population of children and all areas of children's lives - home, school, environment, transport, and facilities for leisure and recreation. Thanks to the financial support The National Coordinating Centre was created on the national level, which serves as a leading organization in prevention activities in the Czech Republic. NCC is based in the University Hospital Motol in newly reconstructed and equipped premises. During the implemented period there was collected more than ten thousand contacts of all stakeholders in the child injuries prevention area to the national databases. This database is used for sharing news, lessons learned and education materials. NCC also runs a new website. Furthermore, there were created a pc game, short educative animated videos and some methodologies and materials for the prevention of injuries and violence. Thanks to the all activities and creation of the center, thousands of children were educated how to eliminate health risks of injuries. Overall, the main result is a centralization of activities in the prevention of child injuries and violence.

Summary of bilateral results

The donor partner - Norwegian Safety Forum - is an organization that provides information and ensures cooperation between government agencies and NGOs, and industry and trade, to increase security in Norway. It provides information on strategies to the responsible authorities at national, regional and local government and in the private sector dealing with health. There was organized a study trip of project team to the Norwegian Safety Forum in 2015, where representatives of the University Hospital Motol shared experience with the Norwegian partner. Dr. Lund actively helped NCC during the process of development educative materials (revisions of methodologies) and videos. Both partners met again during the final conference of the project in 2017 in Prague, where they evaluated their cooperation and shared experiences from implementation. The established cooperation was very appreciated and there are already planned more international events.
