Project responds to the endangerment of children and their families covered by the agenda of social and legal protection of children from regions around Brno. Using project activities we would like to attain improvement in individual childcare in socially disadvantaged families so that children would be able to grow up in a natural environment of their own families. Project activities will be aimed at Brno surroundings, which are currently not covered by any social activation service, meaning that there is no effective help or support for children and their families experiencing difficulties that may even lead to children being taken into institutional care. Activities will be implemented with coordinated cooperation of workers of social and legal protection of children of the particular town as well as with the cooperation of the schools of involved children.
Summary of project results
The aim of the project was to spread social service for families with children into localities out of the city Brno. The project enables social service to families, which cannot commute to larger town, but they want to resolve their complicated situation, which endangers children’s living within family. The project supported 10 children and their families, which used social services. Some of the families recommended further our service to friends, what give us positive feedback about their satisfaction with service. We lead the families to use their local sources and to connect with close social environment, so they can find relevant support after the end of our cooperation. Social workers intervene within families considering the children´s needs. They taught parents to ask children, what are their needs, so the family can identify and fulfil children´s needs independently. Important part of the project was to build cooperation with social departments of local authorities. Their workers can get experiences and inspiration for further cooperation with NGOs. We are delighted that social department of Hustopeče plans to open stable social service for families in their region and we were asked to lead the methodical service settings. The goals of the project were fulfil and we also get important experience for expansion of social service into remoted localities.
