Description

This project will support families in South Bohemia region with children or adolescents with autism. The aim is to help these families to be fully functioning with such a load as autism so that the children/adolescents could grow up in their natural environment. We will use following tools - training in social and communication skills, Counseling, Respite services [weekends, events, at home], Increasing capacity, Volunteering, Establishment of detache workplace. The project responds to the lack of services for families with autism in the region and a steady increase of autism.

Summary of project results

The project responded to the constantly growing demand and the current lack of services for children and youth with autism in South Bohemia. Families with children and adolescents with autism suffered from lack of support. Autism is a specific handicaps so that services for them must be specialized, they are sufficiently effective and not counterproductive. Thanks to the project, we have managed to increase the capacity of services for children with autism and improve them. We have managed to map the situation concerning the needs of children and youth with autism and their saturation in the South Bohemia region and knowledge of the situation based on experience and validate and refine data on the number of children and adolescents diagnosed with autism, and on the other side of a current capacity of services for them. A booklet that serves to understand issues and offer support services, care and assistance in the regions of South Bohemia. The project was positively influenced by the range of services for children and youth with autism and their families. By extending services we were able to offer services to a wider group. Project activities have improved the life of autistic children and their entire families.
