Description

The aim of the project is to support the school success of socially and culturally disadvantaged children. The goal of the designed project is to increase the readiness of these children and their parents on education in primary schools, to increase the competence of teachers at all levels of primary schools in the education of these pupils and to raise awareness of parents about the importance of education for the future life of their children. The intention is to develop cooperation between the parents of children and the school, strengthen their confidence to educational institutions, support parents in improving their parenting skills, provide them with social and legal counselling, help to prevent the social exclusion of families and support cooperation between NGOs, schools and state administration in favor of Roma children and parents. The target groups are children from socially and culturally disadvantaged backgrounds and their families, as well as professionals who work with them.

Summary of project results

Goal of the project was directed at increasing the readiness of socially and culturally disadvantaged children and their parents on education in primary schools. Throughout the project was continually established cooperation with families and children from socio-culturally disadvantaged backgrounds and with other cooperating entities. We implemented 26 leisure activities to increase the incentive for parents to cooperate with the school at the partner level. The project has involved 13 primary schools (including one elementary school for the disabled, one practical school and one elementary school in a psychiatric hospital) and 2 secondary schools, were collaborating with other NGOs, including Educational Care Center, PPP, Probation and Mediation Service , Statutory City of Opava.By offering tutoring children in the home we achieved one of the other milestones of the project - to offer families of the target group educational support for pupils who are not in supportive home environment. During the entire period of the project the tutoring took place for 60 children from 10 elementary schools and one middle school.During the project we searched families with children aged 3-6 years by our social workers who were subsequently offered to participate in a club for preschool kids Koťátko. During the entire period, we have managed to establish cooperation with 14 children and 12 parents.There were conducted 4 interactive workshops focused on integrating children with social handicaps in schools and on the development of cooperation between organizations. Throughout the project was created and distributed Methodology of inclusive education.
