Description

The pre-school training of Roma children is often inadequate and frequently causing delays in their primary school admission. It also negatively affects their ability to remain within the main educational stream. The objective of the project is the support of Roma children aged 3-15 years from Jaroměř and surrounding areas through complex out-of-school education, with respect to majority society integration and parental activation in relation to skill and knowledge development. The aim is to motivate the parents and their children so that, through the pre-school education, the interest to complete the primary and any further education is encouraged. The objective will be reached by the following activities: pre-school care support, regular out-of-school education program, computer skills development and field work among the families. The main benefit for the target group should be skill and knowledge development and an overall personality development through the educational activities.

Summary of project results

The main objective of the project was to support Roma children aged 3 to 15 years of Jaroměře through activities aimed at promoting education of children, integration into mainstream society and mobilization of parents in relation to the development of skills and knowledge children. As part of the project activities were supported 92 children, some engage in more project activities. A special focus on working with the whole family, ie. Support preschool education and outreach work in the family were involved in a total of 18 families (29 children), of which 14 families took place at a club for parents with children. Parents through the project more interested in the development of their children, separately, on the recommendation of a field worker with the children to prepare at home. During the project implementation the needs of the target groups were reflected and activities have expanded, specifically activities supporting preschool education were also carried out in other parts of the city. Thanks to extracurricular activities focusing on training and development of computer skills to the children involved maintain or even improve the well at school in these activities involved 63 children. According to the feedback received from the classroom teachers, the program of extracurricular education was very beneficial. The benefit of the project is the increase in the interest of families on the education of children at pre-school age children in school are mainly voluntary to participate in extracurricular education about the problematic subject matter. It is still being worked on with the families of all project activities through registered social service centers. The project is evaluated very positively, positively evaluated and sides of the target group and primary school teachers.
