Description

The project is aimed at increasing the skills of children with health disabilities and their fulfillment in the natural environment of the primary family. The main objective of the project is to improve and streamline a comprehensive approach to families caring for children with disabilities and to expand support activities for these families. Timely and effective support of children and their families contribute to a balanced family and strengthen the confidence of all members, while a stable family environment is essential for parents to prefer home care over the institutional.

Summary of project results

The aim of project was to promote increased and more effective approach to a child with disabilities, including their family members. When participating in the activities parents and children were able to use personal assistants. Children with disabilities can learn to use new technologies (iPAD) so that they can better communicate with others. Also they had the opportunity to express themselves through art therapy, participate in trips and events. Comprehensiveness and quality of services for disabled children and their families has also increased due to professional seminars for parents, the possibility of lending teaching aids, thematic meeting parents. Planned results were achieved through project activities. Courses were implemented to operate iPad. Thanks to the joint activities, the isolation of families was prevented and they were offered the possibility of sharing (parental self-help groups, trips, garden party). Very positive impact on the target group also had easier access to modern compensation, rehabilitation and stimulation aids. Very appreciated were also events for the whole family, where social interactions took place, the family got a chance to participate in events that would otherwise be difficult to access (trips, Garden Party). Roundtables brought together representatives of public administration, non-profit organizations of persons with disabilities or their parents (67 participants).
