NGOs have a growing interest in social entrepreneurship. They lack business experience and they need support especially with preparation of a business plan. The project is aimed at strengthening economic activities of NGOs that provide social services to mentally ill and disabled by building their capacity towards social entrepreneurship. As a result of an analysis and 8 case studies, a publication will be developed with a description of good practice and advice regarding the employment of mentally ill and disabled. Min. 48 organizations will be trained by attending seminars and consultancy with the outputs of 48 trained organizations, 720 hours of consultancy and min. 30 business plans. Recommendations will be disseminated among Thematic Network for Social Economy TESSEA members and public authorities with the aim of setting suitable procedures and tools for the employing social service clients.
Summary of project results
NGOs as providers of social services have a growing interest in social entrepreneurship because the amount of public money will be on the decrease and they want to integrate their clients by employing them in work integration social enterprises. The project aimed at strengthening the professionalism and sustainability of NGOs that provide social services to mentally ill and disabled by building their capacity towards social entrepreneurship. The target groups were NGOs that provide social services to mentally ill and disabled and public authorities. Due to the project the professionalism and sustainability of NGOs was risen, recommendations were developed aiming at NGOs and public authorities and financial and legal infrastructure of social entrepreneurship was influenced so that NGOs will be taken on board. A publication Make your business slowly was written, based on 30 annotations of social enterprises abroad and on 8 Czech good practice examples. 58 NGOs and 82 participants were trained in 8 two-day seminars. The NGOs were afterwards provided 608 hours of consultancy with the aim to develop a business plan. Later on, 7 follow-up seminars took place. 31 business plans were elaborated. Both target groups increased their information, knowledge and competence in social entrepreneurship. The project made an important contribution to the eligibility of NGOs that provide social services and they can be applicants in the call for proposal No. 03_16_067 OP Employment. The white paper of the law on social entrepreneurship includes NGOs among social enterprises and it was also influenced by the project.
