Description

Czech nature is rich and diverse but also contains many vulnerable species. These species need an active protection. A document called an action plan contains guidelines for nature conservation authorities, researches and owners of land how to maintain endangered species populations. It is a special tool which provides complex knowledge about species and recommends the measures how to support the species. The project is about implementation of the measures. The Marsh Angelica (Angelica palustris) is a specially protected species therefore the “Action Plan for Marsh Angelica” was prepared in the year 2000. The project meets the target of the state environmental policy of the Czech Republic for 2012-2020. The main objective of the project is the implementation of the action plan by habitats management, monitoring and research studies the Hrdibořice and Černovír areas, the only areas of the species occurrence in the Czech Republic. The project outcomes are increasing of the species population by breeding individuals, knowledge of populations and two studies - analysis of genetic variability and analysis of soil. The outcome is also management of species habitat on both of its sites of occurrence. The project outputs are data from monitoring the species populations, plants from ex situ cultivations, results of two studies and monitoring of groundwater levels. The important output is regular and quality management of grasslands with species occurrence. Project will also include part of publicity and beyond international workshop about species, information table in the field and banners. The target group of the project is primarily a species and nature-conservation authorities. Secondarily, the protection and connected activities will carry out awareness-raising in the general public via education.

Summary of project results

Aim of the project is the implementation of the proposed measures in support of the Angelica palustris in the oldest of the rescue program approved in the Czech Republic. The rescue program has been approved by the Ministry of the environment in 2000. In 2013, has completed an evaluation of its implementation so far. In terms of the achievement of the objectives of the rescue program was filled with only part of them. The populations was restored permanently only on site in the NPP Hrdibořické ponds. The other self maintaining populations yet failed to create at the Černovír Moor on the second and only other suitable locality for the species in Central Moravia Within the project are carried out the following activities: Within the project are carried out the following activities.1) research the biology of the species and the type of care - culture species, storing seeds to the seed bank, sowing and planting on site, monitoring of the species and genetic variability studies site links2) site care 3) education, public awareness and promotion - rehabilitation and maintenance of the information panels, international seminar on the protection of Angelica palustris, presentation of the activities, an exhibition of photographs from the implementation of the project and the website of the project. 1a. the cultivation of the species in the culture and its propagation storage the seeds to the seed bank and testing their germination planting plants on site of the Černovír, including an experimental planting on potentially suitable locations
