The ambition of the project was to cover a wide range of needs in the penitentiary by targeting prison staff, prison inmates and recently released prisoners. The identified training needs of staff were related to overcoming both the tension and the monotony at work as well as to treatment of the growing number of high-risk prisoners. The prisoners before and after release were addressed by the project so as to provide a basic professional skills and social orientation. The established Support Centre implemented after-care service for 44 recently released prisoners providing social and psychological support, career and labor market consulting. 11 of the supported person were of Roma origin. Career-oriented training programs were developed and introduced comprising 34 prison inmates, who were accordingly certificated for skills in cooking and construction work. 30 prison staff members attended the initial and subsequent training sessions. By creating a good local inter-institutional partnerships the project upgraded the available at municipality level models for supporting socially excluded groups.
