Description

The problem of providing improved and upgraded mental health services is highly topical. It affects not only patients but also their families burdened by constant care for the mental problem. Aging society, deterioration of health indicators and proliferation of socially significant diseases and psychiatric disabilities are the main focus of the European and national health policy. There is need for modern premises for treatment in 3th Psychiatric Clinic in gerontopsychiatry–a unit unique for the country. The project envisages a renovation of certain premises of 3th Psychiatric Clinic and training of doctor and nurses. The training shall concentrate on new modern methods of care for patients with mental health and dementia problems. The creation of suitable premises for the therapeutic process and comfortable conditions for care of patients will improve the quality and conditions for treatment and daily care. The project will provide better working environment for the hospital staff and will increase the safety of the hospital environment. The project will benefit patients with mental health disorders and dementia, medical staff and families of the patients.

Summary of project results

The implementation of the project achieved a better rehabilitation effect for patients at the Clinic of University Hospital "St. Marina". It has also allowed employees to learn about new trends in caring for these patients which will have a dual effect: on one hand, this will improve the treatment and rehabilitation of the patients and on the other hand, it will increase the motivation of employees themselves for a further involvement in the diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation process carried out. The creation of suitable premises for carrying out the therapeutic process and comfortable conditions for the care for patients will greatly improve the quality and the conditions for treatment as wee as daily care. The implementation of the project allowed providing quality modern services for 319 patient with mental illness. During the project the premises of the Third Psychiatric Clinic have been renovated. For improving staff qualification five modules of training have been held, 102 participants attended. The training was concentrated on new modern methods and models of care for patients with mental health and dementia problems.
