Description

The project addresses prevention of all forms of violence including domestic violence. The project aims at violence prevention through raising awareness about human rights, early detection, training and counselling. First, the project will be promoted in the media. Second, 40 young people will learn about the psychological profiles of the victim and the aggressor and how to counter fear. Third, a network of at least 25 organizations addressing violence prevention will be set up and they will be trained in networking. Fourth, individual psychological legal and social counselling will be provided. Finally, the project outcomes will be presented to the stakeholders (the citizens, institutions) during 3 discussion forums. The project will benefit the victims of violence, young people, NGOs, the institutions and the public in general.

Summary of project results

The project aimed at responding to a more and more widespread public problem related to the cases of violence in all areas of life. The victims are afraid and/or ashamed to admit that they are victims and/or perpetrators of aggressive acts and they do not know where and to whom to look for help. A network of organizations and citizens was set up under the project in order to address all forms of violence, i.e. domestic, workplace and school violence. The network members were trained and young people also had an interactive training session focused on domestic violence so that they might be prepared to identify and respond to a potential threat before they create a family. An information campaign and public discussions were held about the ways to protect from and counteract fear, draw public attention to the issue of violence and the opportunities for all citizens to respond properly when they become a victim and/or witness of an aggressive act. The representatives of organizations and institutions that are network members joined in with very good ideas and proposals to reduce the acts of violence. The network that was set up and trained under the project will continue to address violence issues after the project end and will continue to provide consultations to the people who are witnesses, victims or perpetrators of aggressive acts.
