Description

The project addresses the need for networking and standardization of the sustainable development education (SDE). The project aims at creating SDE criteria and an online platform supporting the relevant organizations to provide quality services. First, the experts from partner organizations will hold several meetings to coordinate a common methodology and set SDE quality criteria. Second, 6 regional meetings will be held to finalize the structure and content of the quality criteria and the platform and connect the target groups in a network. Third, the quality criteria, the methodology and a quality label will be developed. Fourth, the online platform for SDE will be launched. Finally, the stakeholders will be attracted to use and offer quality SDE services via the platform. The project will benefit SDE organizations, their clients and the media. The 6 partners will contribute with their expertise and technical means and will attract and involve locally the target groups.

Summary of project results

The project was urgent as it was necessary to standardize the quality of informal education for sustainable development (IESD), work in a network and develop an efficient tool for exchange of experience and best practices. The Golden Walnut network was set up under the project. 7 meetings, 6 regional and a final one, were organized with 248 people interested in using the online platform, offering and taking part in good quality training on IESD. Thus a community was formed as a foundation of the network. A committee of the Golden Walnut Network was set up with Internal Rules of Procedure. In addition, quality criteria of IESD, a web-based questionnaire for the Golden Walnut quality sign, an evaluation system and a procedure for the awarding of the quality sign were created. Last, a web platform was set up as a part of the development of the network for exchange of experience, information, materials and promotion of events and news about IESD. The project helped establish permanent cooperation between the leading organization and its 6 partners and the latter organizations had their administrative and expert capacity raised. Other stakeholders in the area of education and sustainable development were attracted. The project helped raise the capacity of the 248 participants in the meetings with the target groups across the country, as feedback showed. The boosted capacity of the organizations in the field of IESD will result in a sustainable change, as it will improve the quality of the work. The setting up of a network of NGOs working for IESD will enable organizations to constantly improve their work through exchange of experience, information and materials.
