Description

The project addresses the employment challenges faced by people with disabilities (10% of them are employed mainly in specialized enterprises). The project aims at supporting employment of people with disabilities in the ordinary work environment by boosting the capacity of NGOs for advocacy. First, a Resource Centre for advocacy for Inclusive Employment (IE) will be set up. Second, the needs for IE of different groups of people with disabilities will be analyzed. Third, a Guide on advocacy and monitoring of IE will be developed and promoted. Fourth, 15 NGOs will be trained in IE, advocacy and monitoring of the work environment. Meetings with 15 employers and 15 local civil servants on IE will be held. Finally, an E-platform for IE will be developed and will be used as a forum and a library. The project will benefit people with disabilities, relevant NGOs, local authorities and the local community in general.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the employment challenges faced by people with disabilities (10% of them are employed mainly in specialized enterprises). The project supported employment of people with disabilities in the ordinary work environment by boosting the capacity of NGOs for advocacy. The impact can be summed up as follows: - an efficient work of the Resource Centre for Advocacy for Inclusive Employment; - NGOs trained to plan, implement and monitor advocacy actions; - promoted good practices and methods for advocacy and monitoring. The project impacted most the direct participants who implemented various measures for employment for people with disabilities. The goal of boosting the NGO capacity for advocacy and monitoring of inclusive employment was fully achieved via the following steps: - active involvement of 31 people with disabilities; - 15 trained NGOs; - meetings with employers and public administration; - 5 employed people with disabilities; - the participants are trained, motivated and working in a network. The outputs achieved under the project: - Tool for assessment of the needs for support with employment of people with disabilities; - Guide on advocacy for inclusive employment; - Training programmes and materials for advocacy, inclusive employment and monitoring; - Advocacy network was set up; - proposals for legislative amendments on inclusive environment. The trained team continued to work on the issue. All outputs were uploaded on the project e-platform (http://e-platform.icss-bg.org/). The trained NGOs are working on advocacy.
