Description

The project addresses the lack of a standard code of conduct of most NGOs and public mistrust towards NGOs, their transparency and ethical behavior. The project aims at raising public trust and ensuring greater transparency by adopting and implementing a code of conduct. First, a code of conduct will be developed. Second, the code of conduct will be adopted. The applicant’s staff will be trained to apply the code of conduct and control will be exercised on compliance with the code. Finally, the code will be presented to the local community, discussed with the stakeholders at several seminars and provided to other NGOs to follow. The project will benefit the local community, the applicant’s staff and clients and related NGOs.

Summary of project results

The project aimed to introduce a self-regulating mechanism through the adoption of a Code of Ethics. The aim was 100% achieved. The longer-term impact of the project is expected to relate to: maintained high ethics in the activities of the "Ivan Djonev-2010" Community Center; acceptance of the idea of introducing a Code of Ethics from other NGOs. The result of the project is the development and adoption of a Code of Ethics as well as conducted internal organisational trainings for its implementation. The results were fully achieved, according to the set project indicators. The delivered product of the project is economically measurable under the form of a Code of Ethics that is publicly available. The project’s beneficiaries participated in the discussions on the development of the Code of Ethics and its content, and the manner of its multiplication and dissemination. The beneficiaries identified solutions to organizational issues and developed certain skills in the process.
