Summary of project results

The project addressed the challenges faced by people with poor mental health in Strelcha Municipality. The Municipality had its first social service set up under the project, namely Chovekolubie (Love of Mankind) Centre for Social Support. The social service users were enrolled in programmes for psycho-social rehabilitation which met their needs and supported them for integration in the community and solution of their daily problems. As a result of using the social service, the representatives of the target group improved their self-confidence and joined actively the life of the local community. They created a stable circle of friends and developed a positive attitude to themselves and the others. The following integration programmes took place under the project: Human Values, Cultural Life, Sport and Tourism and Social Skills. 239 home visits were carried out under the Mobile Service Programme. 6 lectures under the Mental Health Training Programme were delivered. Experience was exchanged and 3 social services provided by related organizations from the cities of Bourgas, Varna and Dobrich were visited. The following events were organized: 7th national chess tournament for people with mental challenges, a literary competition and a conference on mental health and community-based services during the Mental Health Days. Two press conferences and a photo exhibition were held. An important outcome from the implemented project was the setting up of a network of 15 organizations providing community-based social services for people with mental health problems with a view to future cooperation. The direct target group members under the project were 29 people with impaired mental health from Strelcha Municipality.
