Summary of project results

As a result of the project 12 members of the Roma community in Tsarevo Municipality were trained to plan, implement and monitor policies and strategic documents. Five of them were actively involved in the review of the Action Plan of Tsarevo Municipality in implementation of the strategy of Bourgas District for integration of Bulgarian Roma and other socially disadvantaged people living in equivalent to the Roma conditions 2013-2014, the public discussion of the guidelines for the plan for 2014-2020 and the follow-up meeting for its coordination. 22 Bulgarian and Roma students from Tsarevo Municipality from different age groups were trained as trainers via the peer-to-peer approach on civil rights, multiethnic solidarity, tools for self-help and empowerment of minority communities. The students and participants from the two ethnic backgrounds were trained in an environment of understanding, tolerance and mutual respect. The multiethnic team of trainers who were trained via the peer-to-peer approach will continue to disseminate their knowledge among young people in informal conditions after the end of the project. The Roma representatives in the team working on the Action Plan of Tsarevo Municipality will continue to take part in the monitoring of the plan in 2017 as well as in the identification of new activities for the integration of the Roma in line with their needs, cultural and domestic specificity. The Guide of good practices for the training and active involvement of the Roma community will be the foundation for future trainings of the Roma community in the other municipalities in Bourgas District.
