Description
The project addresses the need for more information about social services provided to marginalized groups of the public (the elderly, the disabled, the poor) in Plovdiv District. The project aims at empowering the marginalized groups with the help of the media, Thrace TV channel in particular. First, experts will provide information about available social services during 10 TV shows be aired on Thrace TV channel. Second, experts will take and answer questions from the public during a 2-hour TV show. Third, 5 information materials will be aired on TV about social services. Fourth, top news and announcements from the stakeholders (social services, NGOs, non-profits) will be promoted online. Finally, a special website will be created and sign language interpretation will be provided for the live TV shows. The project will benefit the members of vulnerable social groups in Plovdiv District, NGOs, the local authorities and the local community in general.
Summary of project results
The project addressed the need for more information about social services provided to marginalized groups of the public (the elderly, the disabled, the poor) in Plovdiv District. The main project goal, i.e. to empower marginalized groups by means of a public dialogue, was fully achieved. The website
www.vzaimno.com also found its place in the media. The target groups accepted the programme and the information sources maintained from the project team as its territory. In addition to the information and the tips they received from TV shows, information materials and the website, they were also informed about a broad range of events and issues. The activities included in the project will continue after its end with different frequency and they will aim at retaining, the audience, the readers and their trust. During the project the following activities took place: 10 direct TV shows, a public waiting room, maintenance of a spwcialized website and more than 300 video and information materials on social issues. The main target group included disadvantaged people, mainly the elderly, people with disabilities, minorities, people at risk of poverty – more than 30 000. The website
