Description

The project addresses the need for greater tolerance among students in mixed classes with a different ethnic background. The project aims at promoting tolerance through teaching students debating skills. First, 100 students in 8th-12th grade (80 Roma and 20 Bulgarians) from 3 high schools in Sofia will be selected as participants. Second, the students will be taught for 12 months to organize advocacy campaigns for human rights, tolerance and equality. The training will be divided into 3 modules ending up with a public debate. Third, 3 public debates will be held with the participation of all stakeholders (parents, teachers, principals and institutions). Next, students will be able to join the project through the web-based programme “I know how and I can debate”. Finally, a round table on Tolerance in Debates will be held. The project will benefit all the students in the chosen schools, their parents, teachers and school staff. The partner will provide logistic and counseling support.
