Description

The project addresses the need to revive villages, reverse the negative trend of depopulation and make villages in rural areas more attractive to young people. The project aims at promoting active citizenship among young people by means of landscaping 2 areas in a rural village. First, a village in need of landscaping and recreation areas will be selected. Second, the project and the philosophy of active citizenship will be presented to the local community. Third, the applicant’s website focused on active citizenship will be created. Fourth, an art workshop on tolerance and multicultural interaction will be carried out. Finally, the 2 areas for landscaping will be selected, the plants will be purchased and landscaping will be carried out. The project will benefit the citizens of the selected village as well as the young people taking part in the project by setting an example of active citizenship.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the need to revive villages, reverse the negative trend of depopulation and make villages in rural areas more attractive to young people. The project also promoted active citizenship among young people by means of landscaping 2 areas in a rural village. It set a good example about interaction between the local authorities and the civil sector and mobilized the local community. The initiative brought together children, school students and pensioners around a common cause to improve the environment in the village of Kliment. It was selected at a competition among 17 nominated villages. As a result of the project activities, 412 perennials and blooming flowers were planted in the village and two public areas were improved by landscaping. 44 young people joined the landscaping activities, 140 people in total for the 6-month duration of the project. In addition, young people took part in several creative workshops and in several public discussions on topics related to fighting aggression, tolerance and understanding.
