Summary of project results

The project helped change the existing regional imbalance in providing social services in Targovishte District and facilitated the access of Roma women and children, victims of domestic violence, to specialized aid that is appropriate for their needs. The implementation of the project activities helped NAIA Association strengthen its capacity to provide mobile services and expand the territorial scope of its programmes for support of domestic violence victims. As a result of the project, a model was set up for support of Roma women and children who are victims of domestic violence through interventions taking into account their cultural, ethnic, social and psychological differences. The professionals from the NGO sector and the institutions working with the target group increased their expertise to use specific approaches that are appropriate for the needs of the Roma victims of domestic violence and thus conditions were created to boost the efficiency of the provided support. 198 women that are victims of domestic violence from the small villages and towns populated mainly by the Roma were provided support in line with their specific needs. Access was provided to 520 victims of domestic violence from across Targovishte District to free-of-charge programme for support and recovery including via outpatient reception offices and mobile teams in the small towns and villages. 243 school children across the district were involved in training sessions for prevention of domestic violence. The activities carried out under the project will continue after its end and the funds will be provided by other donors. For more information about the project, please, visit: www.naia-tg.com
