Description

The project addresses the challenges faced by the applicant, ISI Foundation, related to limited human resources and lack of permanent funding resulting in irregular and piecemeal actions taken by the Foundation. The project aims at developing a strategy for organizational development and financial sustainability in order to replace the ad-hoc actions with long-term planning. First, the staff members will be trained, first, in efficient management and organizational culture, and second, in strategic planning and crisis management. Second, the Manager’s capacity will be boosted by developing the necessary skills and knowledge. Third, a team building event will be held to get better acquainted with the team members. Finally, strategies for financial sustainability and human resources development will be prepared. The project will benefit the applicant by helping the Foundation achieve long-term planning, financial sustainability and thus perform its services better.

Summary of project results

The project addressed the challenges faced by the applicant, ISI Foundation, related to limited human resources and lack of permanent funding resulting in irregular and piecemeal actions taken by the Foundation. The capacity building of the team was done in areas of main significance for the development of the organization – strategic planning and effective management. The founders and the Manager (founder herself) participated in the trainings. The strategic documents (Strategy for HR Development and Strategy for Financial Sustainability) are property of the Foundation and are already incorporated as official documents setting the framework and providing the basis for the development of Manuals and Regulations. The objective of the project was to build the capacity of the Foundation for financial and organizational sustainability which was fully achieved as the Foundation changed its approach to development and fulfilment of its goals – from sporadic ad-hoc activities to strategically planned approach. The management team now has the knowledge and the skills to plan and manage the resources of the Foundation. The capacity of the Foundation for organizational and financial sustainability was strongly improved; defined was the project promoter’s vision and were drafted several scenarios for the achievement of the set goals. The implementation of the project has four main outcomes: 1. Acquired knowledge and skills for strategic planning and effective management of the resources by the management team; 2. Improved organizational climate and interactions between the team and the volunteers (incl. increased knowledge in the team about the expertise and personal skills of each member and volunteer); 3. Developed two main strategic documents – Strategy for HR Development and Strategy for Financial Sustainability; 4. Increased awareness in the community about the Foundation and its activities (three partnerships for concrete projects were planned to be implemented) The beneficiaries of this project were the project promoter itself and its team (the founders and the volunteers). The beneficiaries were actively involved in each project activity. The achieved positive results were due to the responsible approach and full engagement of the participants towards achieving the project goals.
